You Know the Pattern. But Do You Know What's Driving It?
You may already know what you do. The harder question is why you keep doing it when you know better.
These patterns don't come from nowhere. They developed for reasons — often long before you understood what was happening or why you were responding the way you did.
CORE was created to help you understand what shaped these patterns, what keeps them operating today, and what you can begin to do differently.
The CORE Method
CORE is an eight-week self-directed program built around four stages: Comprehend, Observe, Reclaim and Embody. Each stage unfolds over two weeks, giving you time not only to understand the material, but to reflect on it, apply it and begin seeing your own story differently.
This isn't about endlessly revisiting the past. It's about understanding how the past may still be showing up in the way you think, feel, respond and relate today.
WEEKS 1–2: COMPREHEND
Begin by understanding what trauma actually is — and what it isn't. You'll explore how experiences can affect the nervous system, your window of tolerance and the survival responses that helped you adapt. You'll begin looking at your own experiences and recognizing where their impact may still be showing up today.
WEEKS 3–4: OBSERVE
Understanding your history is only the beginning. Now you start connecting the dots. You'll examine the patterns, protective adaptations and responses that developed along the way — and begin asking an important question: What helped me then, but may no longer be serving me now?
WEEKS 5–6: RECLAIM
Awareness creates the opportunity for choice. In Reclaim, the focus begins shifting from understanding what happened and what developed as a result toward challenging old patterns, reclaiming parts of yourself and practising different responses.
WEEKS 7–8: EMBODY
Knowing something intellectually and living it are two different things. Embody is about bringing what you've learned into everyday life — strengthening new ways of responding, relating and making choices so that your history can inform you without continuing to run you.
CORE isn't about becoming someone new. It's about understanding what shaped you, letting go of what no longer serves you, and reconnecting with who you are underneath the adaptations you once needed.
Why I Created CORE
Twenty years of counselling experience, distilled into a method you can work through on your own.
They knew they were people pleasing. They knew they were trying to control everything. They knew they were overthinking, striving for perfection or repeating patterns that weren't working.
What they often didn't understand was where those patterns came from or why simply knowing better wasn't enough to change them.
CORE grew out of that work.
Over time, I came to understand something that fundamentally changed the way I work with trauma: trauma is not the event. Trauma is what happens inside of you as a result of the event.
We cannot change what happened. But we can understand what it changed inside of us, recognize the adaptations we developed along the way, and begin choosing differently.
That's what CORE is designed to help you do.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do I need to have experienced a major traumatic event for CORE to be useful?
No. Trauma isn't defined simply by how dramatic an event was. CORE focuses on what happened inside of you as a result of your experiences and how those experiences may have shaped the patterns, beliefs and responses you carry today. You don't need to decide whether what happened to you was “bad enough” to benefit from understanding its impact.
-
Do I need to be in counselling while I take CORE?
No. CORE was designed as a self-directed program that you can work through on your own. Some people may choose to use what they discover in CORE as part of counselling, but counselling is not required to complete or benefit from the program.
-
How much time should I expect to spend each week?
CORE is designed to be worked through gradually over eight weeks. Each week includes a teaching video along with exercises and reflections in your Field Guide. There is no need to rush through the material. The value comes from giving yourself time to think about what you're learning and connect it to your own life.
-
Will I have to relive painful experiences from my past?
No. CORE is not about forcing yourself to revisit or relive painful experiences. You will be invited to reflect on experiences that shaped you, but the focus is on understanding their impact, recognizing the patterns that developed and discovering what you may want to do differently now. You remain in control of how deeply you engage with any particular exercise.

What happens after the eight weeks?
CORE is designed to give you a framework you can continue using long after the program ends. The goal isn't to have everything “fixed” in eight weeks. It's to understand yourself differently, recognize your patterns sooner and continue practising new responses as you move forward.
And the support doesn't end with Week 8. For the following eight weeks, I'll continue to stay in contact with you, reinforcing what you've learned and helping you keep the work alive as you begin applying it in everyday life.
